Burkle Spare plastic foam insert, mercury collector

This replacement foam insert is the key component of the Bürkle mercury collector, designed to safely absorb spilled mercury. It is made from a special plastic foam with a unique pore structure that effectively soaks up mercury droplets when pressed onto them. The insert attaches to the screw cap of the mercury collector, allowing the collector to be reused when the original insert becomes saturated or worn. By gently pressing the foam insert onto spilled mercury, its pores open and capture the mercury beads. When the cap is screwed back on, the captured droplets pass through a perforated plate into the secure collection container. The replacement insert matches the original in both material and size: a highly durable special foam that doesn’t shed fibers and doesn’t react adversely with mercury.
